Don’t get me wrong – I love a major home reno. But today I’m thinking about easy weekend projects that can increase your home’s value and enjoyment. These projects range from about $30 – $600, and most can be done by you (if you’ve got some basic skills!). Roll up those sleeves and keep reading for some new ideas.
Give your kitchen cabinets a little love.
A really simple way to do this is just to switch out the hardware on cabinets. It can completely change the look of your entire kitchen. You can also opt to paint cabinets yourself, but do not skimp on sanding and priming.
Make a splash with a new backsplash.
Subway tile is a timeless way to update any kitchen. Try a colorful backsplash for a bold look! Pro-tip: if you’re installing it yourself, always measure twice.
Replace countertops with butcher-block.
If your current counter needs some love but granite, marble or quartz are out of your price range, butcher-block countertops are a great, inexpensive alternative.
Refresh your bathroom sink base.
You may be able to reuse your counter and install a new base that will add function and beauty.
Add crown molding.
Crown molding just got easier. There are several companies that provide a new product that looks like wood, but is actually a lightweight polystyrene foam coated in hard plaster that you can cut with a handsaw and is easily installed using a joint compound. In a weekend you can completely upgrade your living space and add plenty of charm!
Paint your porch floor.
Painting your porch is a great way to up your curb-appeal. Darker colors are great options, and make sure to purchase paint that is labeled specifically for porch and patio floors.
