In this week’s installment of Incredibly Useful Information we are shining a light on… the laundry room! This room, despite its dreary associations, is essential. We think it deserves some love, so here are our best tips on making this space work better for you, and make you feel (at least a little bit) happier when you’re in there.
Keep It Organized
Shelving, shelving, shelving and more shelving. Make sure there’s enough room for every item that needs to fit in your laundry room. We completely adore this simple shelving from Ikea and especially this wallmount drying rack from Pottery Barn.
Don’t Skip on Maintenance
Clean out dryer vents annually (or more often if you have pets); inspect your water hoses regularly; keep your outside vent clear; and don’t forget to wash your washing machine! Most new machines have a self-cleaning cycle, but you can always simply use vinegar and baking soda- follow these steps from ‘The Today Show’ for the best results!
Incorporate Design Elements You Love
Look around your living room. What do you see? A nice rug, a plant, and some woven baskets? Bring those into your laundry room, and they will make you feel a teensy bit better when you’re in there.
I don’t know about you, but I kind of want to just do laundry now. Is that weird? Let us know how you make your laundry room feel special in the comments below!
