Today we’re sharing our favorite homemade cleaning products. Making them yourself out of natural ingredients saves you money and protects Kentucky’s precious waterways.
Here are our team’s top 4 recipes!
1. Glass Cleaner
1 cup distilled water
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup rubbing alcohol
peppermint essential oil (optional)
Put it all in a spray bottle, shake and you’re all set.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide Kitchen Cleaner
Pour this ingredient all by itself into an opaque spray bottle (exposure to light reduces its effectiveness). It’s non-toxic, so it’s a great cleaner for the kitchen. Spray on cutting boards and use to clean your refrigerator. Mix with baking soda to create a scrub and conquer the toughest dishwashing challenges!
3. Vinegar and Vodka Disinfectant
(Via Real Simple)
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup vodka
10 drops lemon essential oil
10 drops lavender essential oil
1 1/2 cups water
Mix all of these ingredients to a spray bottle. Don’t be afraid to adjust the essential oils to your preferences.
4. Eucalyptus Toilet Bowl Cleaner
25 drops eucalyptus essential oil
2 cups filtered water
1-1/3 cups baking soda
1/3 cup Castile soap
Add everything but the Castile soap to a squeeze bottle and shake. Add the soap and shake again. Let it soak in your toilet bowl for 15 minutes, then scrub. Bonus: Eucalyptus is a natural germicide!
