It’s that time of year again when countless deliveries are going to start arriving at our doorsteps. Here our team’s top tips for keeping your precious parcels secure this upcoming holiday season! We’ll go in order from the simplest solutions to the ones that require the most effort.
1. Deliver to your office.
If you’re allowed to do this, it’s the most convenient and safe way to receive smaller packages if you can’t be home to receive them.
2. Require signature on delivery.
This will ensure that something valuable won’t be left out in the open. If you aren’t there to receive it, they will either re-attempt delivery another day, or you can often pick it up from a service center.
3. Request a knock.
Most package theft happens during the day, so it’s helpful to add this as a delivery instruction. If you are home, you’ll know it’s there.
4. Use a pick up point.
Amazon Locker and the UPS Access Point Network are examples of these. They are usually at grocery stores and convenience stores.
5. Insure your upcoming packages.
If something gets stolen, you’re covered. An extra cost but could be worth it depending on your situation.
6. Upgrade your mailbox.
If you frequently order online, a new mailbox may be just what you need. Make sure it’s USPS-approved. There are tons of options for these on Amazon in a range of sizes and prices.
7. Use a home monitoring system or get Amazon Key.
Using a wireless door monitor allows you to see your porch. You can see any visitors and package deliveries even when you’re not home. With Amazon Key, prime members have packages delivered inside the door. You can watch the delivery live from your smartphone, but you’ll still have to be comfortable with someone entering your house.
8. Set Up Security Cameras
Security cameras do 3 things: First, you can see who’s at your door. Secondly, just the very presence of cameras will deter thieves. Thirdly, if there is a theft, you’ll be able to provide evidence.
Do you have any clever tips for ensuring safe package delivery? Hope everyone enjoys the beginning of their holiday shopping this month!
