Today on Hometown Highlights we visit the non-profit organization FoodChain! Aquaponics, fresh food education, a processing kitchen, and a community space? FoodChain does it all. If you haven’t heard of this unbelievable project, perhaps you’ve eaten some of their farmed tilapia or aquaponics-grown lettuce while dining at Smithtown Seafood (beside West 6th brewery). Situated in a food desert in the middle of Lexington, they connect the community with fresh food in a myriad of ways. You can contribute to them financially or check out volunteer opportunities via their website, foodchainlex.org, or feel free to drop of cookbooks to help out their cooking students!
