With fall just around the corner, our team is really looking forward to soaking up some of Central Kentucky’s natural beauty.
Today we thought we’d share our favorite websites that we use as resources for planning our outdoors adventures! We hope this roundup helps you make the most of your weekends this coming season.
Check out VisitLex for a great overview of a ton of outdoor activities available in the Lexington area. Did you know that Kentucky has more inland waterways than any state except Alaska?
For an incredibly comprehensive list of all the outdoor activities available in Kentucky, check out Kentucky Tourism. They’ve got the low-down on everything from hiking, climbing, boating, horseback riding and more!
Looking to escape, but don’t have all day? Raven Run Nature Sanctuary is just a quick jaunt from both Nicholasville and Lexington.
Obviously, we love the Red River Gorge. If you’ve never been and feel overwhelmed with all it has to offer, check out this quick overview from the Outdoor Project.
If, on the other hand, you’re already a huge fan of the Gorge, check this list of interesting RRG facts from Roads, Rivers and Trails that sparked our interest.
Ready to get out there, but need a map? Check out local mapmakers OutrageGIS. They’ve hiked all of the trails themselves and even marked where you can see the sunrise and sunset. So cool!
Last but not least, check out these crucial safety tips from Kentucky State Parks. (Psssst. They have an awesome Instagram account! @kystateparks)
Send us pictures of your adventures on social media! Happy trails!
