Have you been wishing you had your own pool, but are not sure if it’s right for you and your family?

If you think you’re going to spend quite a bit of time this winter deciding if a pool is in your backyard’s future, then this post is for you!

Will it benefit me financially like other home updates?

It’s difficult to say if installing a pool will increase the value of your home. If you are in a neighborhood where most people have pools, installing an inground pool can bring your home value up to the level of your neighbors. However, if your area has a community pool and very few homes nearby have pools installed, then getting a pool will probably not increase the value of your home (at least not a lot, if any).

    Is it worth it?

Divide the cost of the pool by the number of years you expect to be in your home, add annual maintenance costs, and you’ll be able to see if the cost per year is worth it for the value. Ultimately, installing a pool is only worth it if you love swimming!

I want a pool but don’t want the hassle of installation.

A great option would be to buy a house that already has a pool installed. Shameless self-promotion: check out our dreamy listing (pictured below) at 1214 Cooper Drive!

I want to install a pool. Where do I start?

Our team member Brandon says that first you need to call 811 to see where underground utility lines might be. Then, look at your plat and see where utilities easements are and definitely call your HOA (if you have one) to see about regulations regarding pool types and privacy fences. I’m going to draw on my own experience and say call a professional pool company so they can help guide you and hold your hand through the process.  We can help you with some recommendations if you want, again I have done a pool install and have first hand knowledge….you can learn from my mistakes!

    The verdict?

Pools are great if you are really going to use them. Family pool time, night swimming, friends and backyard fun are the best!  Bottom line to me is, if you are going to get your money’s worth from using it, then it is worth it!
